The mighty Urquhart Castle stands on the edge of Loch Ness, and there is no better way to approach it than by boat.

We have teamed up with Loch Ness by Jacobite to offer one lucky winner a chance to win an unforgettable day out for your family.

To celebrate this competition we recently caught up with Kelly from Jacobite Cruises to give us some information about their Freedom – Clansman & Castle tour.

What does the tour entail?

The Freedom – Clansman & Castle is one of our most popular tours today.  It allows people to enjoy a cruise sailing the deepest waters of Loch Ness before arriving at Urquhart Castle.

What can people expect from the tour?

During the cruise, you can hear all about the legends of the loch and, of course, the legend of the famous monster. You might even spot Nessie yourself! If you don’t see the elusive monster, there is always the beautiful landscape, the loch-scape, the history, the flora, the fauna and the culture; all of which contribute to the Loch Ness and the Urquhart Castle experience.

Do you have any top tips for visitors?

  • Be sure to head up to the top deck for some spectacular views, don’t worry if it’s a touch cold, our heated saloon will warm you up nicely
  • Highland Hot Chocolates are recommended to increase the chance of a Nessie Spotting (whisky and hot chocolate)
  • Be sure to keep an eye on our sonars, you never know what lurks beneath the surface
  • Take lots of pictures! Loch Ness is one of the most scenic parts of Scotland, so be camera ready and capture every moment!
